A pair of small decorative dishes produced by Ariki Industries Ltd. Each dish features a scalloped rim and is constructed with a dark resinous base. The interiors are decorated with an inlaid mosaic of genuine paua shell fragments, exhibiting characteristic iridescent hues of blue, green, and purple. Centred in each interior is a gold-toned brand label printed with Arohane in black lettering. The undersides are finished in black resin and retain multiple original labels. Transcribed markings on the base include a gold oval sticker reading GENUINE PAUA SHELL MADE IN NEW ZEALAND with patent application numbers N.Z. 145629 and AUST. 9752/66, a care instruction sticker reading RINSE IN WARM WATER ONLY, and a white manufacturer label for ARIKI INDUSTRIES LTD.
