A pair of utilitarian cast metal bells. The first is a traditional handheld school or service bell featuring a cast bell metal or bronze body with an even dark patina. It is fitted with a turned wooden handle, likely fruitwood or beech, and marked with an impressed digit 8 on the shoulder, typically denoting size or weight. The interior contains an iron clapper with a heavy spherical weight. The second is a hanging bell, likely for a ship or institutional use, cast in brass with an integral mounting loop to the crown. The tapered body is decorated with concentric molded rings and retains its cast brass clapper with a turned profile.
