A maritime lantern featuring a copper body and brass detailing, resembling the design of nautical signal lamps such as those produced by Nippon Sento. The lantern incorporates a spherical clear glass globe protected by a three-bar brass guard cage. The upper section consists of a cylindrical vented chimney topped with a domed cap and fitted with a brass bail handle. Two small brass loops are mounted to the frame, likely for bracket attachment. The circular base contains several ventilation holes. No internal burner or lighting mechanism is present, and the item bears no visible manufacturer’s marks, stamps, or serial numbers. The construction is characterised by its heavy gauge metal and utilitarian maritime design.
