This collection of English earthenware is by Carlton Ware, featuring various patterns from the factorys Australian Design range. The pieces are relief-molded and hand-painted in vibrant colours. Patterns represented include Foxglove, featuring pink bell-shaped flowers on a primrose yellow ground, and Wild Rose, featuring pink floral motifs on both yellow and lettuce-green grounds. Also included are novelty Cottage Ware pieces modelled as thatched-roof cottages with hand-painted birds perched on the handles and lids. The group comprises multiple forms, including tall pitchers, teapots, creamers, sugar bowls, lidded preserve jars, leaf-shaped serving bowls and plates, a four-slice toast rack, salt and pepper shakers, and teacups. A base mark on one piece bears the black printed transfer mark: Carlton Ware, MADE IN ENGLAND, TRADE MARK, REGISTERED, AUSTRALIAN DESIGN, REGISTRATION APPLIED FOR.
