A clear glass specimen or shop display jar produced for Cadbury Brothers Ltd, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The vessel features an ovoid pear-shaped body supported by a knopped pedestal stem and a wide, domed circular foot. The jar is complete with its original tall, spire-shaped stopper, which is decorated with vertical fluting and features a ground-glass joint. The front of the main body is acid-etched with the text COCOA BEANS. The circular foot is acid-etched with two lines of text: CADBURY BROS LD. and MARACAS VALLEY. These inscriptions identify the jar as a promotional or educational display item used to showcase cocoa beans sourced from the company’s historical estates in Trinidad.
