An Edwardian sterling silver pince-nez case, hallmarked for Charles Cooke, Chester, 1904. The case is of rounded rectangular form with an engine-turned design consisting of alternating linear and wavy horizontal bands. The centre features a circular cartouche engraved with an intertwined script monogram, possibly HB. The interior is lined with dark blue velvet. Included is a pair of octagonal-lens pince-nez spectacles. The eyewear features a gold-toned bridge with a spring-tension mechanism and black-padded nose grips. Attached to one lens mount is a fine link chain terminating in a curved ear hook. The case interior bears the makers mark C.C for Charles Cooke, a lion passant for sterling silver, the Chester town mark of three wheat sheaves and a sword, and the date letter D for 1904.
