A mid-20th-century vintage hand-operated tabletop letterpress printing press, manufactured by Adana. This clamshell-style press is the “Five-Three” model, which typically accommodates a 5 x 3 inch chase. The main frame is constructed from cast iron with a burgundy enamel finish, mounted onto a rectangular wooden baseboard. It features a manual operating lever with a rounded, bulbous handle, a circular rotating ink disk, and a hinged platen mechanism. On the side of the cast frame, the maker’s name “ADANA” and the model “FIVE – THREE” are visible in raised relief, along with the partially visible mark “MADE IN ENGLAND”. The assembly includes the spring-loaded roller carriage and metal roller shafts.
