A collection of pewter and metalware drinking vessels and liquid measures of varied age and design. The group includes large pitchers, several mugs of globular form, a straight-sided tankard, and multiple smaller measures. The collection features two distinct surface finishes. One group consists of items with a heavy, dark oxidised patina and surface encrustation, including a large pitcher and globular measures with flared rims and simple loop handles. The second group consists of items with a polished, silvery finish, including a large straight-sided pitcher, a bell-shaped mug, and various measures. A half-pint tankard within the collection is stamped with the maker mark H S & Co for Harrison Sheffield & Co, along with the words HALF-PINT and a George Rex GR crown verification mark. Another small measure features an embossed rectangular plaque on the front. The vessels are produced through casting and turning techniques, with styles ranging from traditional Georgian-style globular forms to more utilitarian Victorian and early 20th-century designs.
