This lot comprises a vintage medical hypodermic syringe and a boxed set of serum needles manufactured by Burroughs Wellcome and Co., London. The syringe features a graduated glass barrel marked in units up to 40, fitted with plated metal components. It is housed in a hinged, silver-toned metal case that contains remnants of protective tissue paper. The accompanying needles are contained in their original cardboard box, featuring a purple-edged design and a detailed paper label. The label identifies the contents as No. 12 Serum Needles and includes the manufacturer’s details for Burroughs Wellcome and Co. (The Wellcome Foundation Ltd.), London. It also lists several international associated houses in cities such as Milan, New York, Montreal, Sydney, Cape Town, Bombay, Shanghai, and Buenos Aires. Two long metal needles with internal wire stylets are present within the box.
