Estimated price: £80 - £120

Buyer's Premium:

A matching pair of late 19th-century emerald green glass mantel lustres. Each vessel is hand-blown with a trumpet-shaped body terminating in a wide, crimped ruffled rim with a dark-accented edge. The bodies are supported by a faceted baluster stem on a circular spreading foot. The exterior is hand-decorated with a central frieze of polychrome enamelled flowers in shades of white, purple, and blue, interspersed with gilded scrolling foliage. A secondary ring of applied purple enamel dots encircles the neck below the rim. Each lustre is designed to hang eight crystal pendants from pre-drilled holes in the rim flange. The pendants consist of faceted octagonal top buttons and long, notched spear-shaped drops. The glass exhibits a vibrant emerald green colour, often referred to as Bristol green. The undersides of the bases are ground and polished.
