A large Mexican Saltillo-style serape rug. This flat-woven textile is constructed using a tapestry-weave technique, featuring wool weft on a cotton or wool warp. The design centres on a prominent serrated diamond medallion in shades of cream, blue, and orange, set against a deep terracotta-red ground. The central field is flanked by broad vertical bands composed of multi-coloured stripes in forest green, lime green, yellow, orange, cream, and various tones of blue. The rug terminates in cream-coloured fringes at the shorter ends.
