A collection of Royal Navy items and ephemera primarily associated with the Invincible-class aircraft carriers. The group includes two cast ship’s plaques mounted on shaped black wooden bases; the first for HMS Illustrious featuring three trumpets on a blue field, and the second for HMS Ark Royal depicting a white ark on stylized waves. Both plaques are surmounted by a naval crown and feature raised nameplates with gilt lettering. Accompanying these is a dark blue canvas holdall printed with the crest of HMS Illustrious and the motto Vox Non Incerta. Reference materials consist of a hardback book titled HMS Ark Royal: Zeal Does Not Rest 1981-2011 by Alastair Graham and Eric Grove, and a softcover information booklet titled HMS Ark Royal Anti-Submarine Warfare Aircraft Carrier. Ephemera includes an official battle honours sheet for HMS Invincible, listing engagements from St Vincent 1780 to Falkland Islands 1982, a commemorative postcard for HMS Ark Royal’s 2010 decommissioning tour, and three colour photographs of a vessel in a shipyard setting. Also included is a newspaper clipping from The Metro dated 25 March 2011 and personal kit items comprising a black silk hat tally with gold wire lettering for H.M.S. Ark Royal and a dark blue patterned necktie in its original plastic packaging.
