A heavy-duty vitrified ceramic mortar and pestle set intended for pharmaceutical or laboratory use. The mortar is of deep, circular form with a thick wall, a flared rim, and a defined pouring spout. It is finished in an off-white glaze on the exterior and upper interior rim, with the lower interior grinding surface left unglazed. The matching pestle features a tapered, glazed handle terminating in a rounded knob, with a broad, unglazed grinding head. The base of the mortar features impressed lettering arranged in three lines: WARRANTED ACID PROOF 6. This marking indicates a size 6 vessel constructed from high-grade technical ceramic designed to resist corrosive substances.
