A large hand-blown art glass figurine of a clown, attributed to Murano, Italy. The piece is constructed using a combination of blowing and lampworking techniques. The figure features a bright blue top hat and yellow ribbed glass hair. The face is rendered in white glass with a red nose and a wide red smile. A large, translucent blue ruffled bow tie is positioned at the neck. The torso is composed of clear glass containing internal multicoloured cane inclusions in shades of red, white, and blue. The figurine is further detailed with green glass buttons and sleeve cuffs, white gloved hands, and oversized black glass shoes. The underside of the base shows a rough pontil mark where the piece was detached from the blowpipe during manufacture. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible.
