A modernist stoneware cube vase produced by Troika Pottery in Newlyn, Cornwall. The square vessel features the distinctive heavily textured dark grey granite-style finish typical of the pottery’s Brutalist aesthetic. Each side is decorated with different relief-moulded and incised abstract geometric and architectural motifs, with some panels finished in textured earthy-brown and smooth off-white glazes. The interior is finished with a contrasting smooth off-white glaze. The base is hand-marked in black script with the maker’s name TROIKA and the monogram LT for the decorator Linda Taylor, who worked at the pottery from 1970 to 1983.
