An American sterling silver bonbon or berry spoon featuring a circular, shallow bowl with an irregular lobed and scalloped rim. The interior of the bowl is decorated with intricate openwork piercings in a pattern of scrolling foliage and C-scrolls. The tapered stem is bordered with a fine beaded motif, leading to an ornate, flared handle terminal. The terminal is embellished with heavy scrollwork and a shell-like motif at the tip, surrounding a central unengraved cartouche. The reverse of the stem bears the incised mark STERLING within a rectangular reserve, indicating .925 silver fineness. The design is in the style of the Raleigh pattern introduced by Alvin circa 1900.
