An apothecary pill machine, also known as a pill roller, dating from the Victorian period. The set is constructed from mahogany with brass components. It comprises a rectangular wooden base board fitted with brass side rails and a central ridged brass plate. A horizontal brass strip on the base is engraved with the numbers 6, 12, 18, and 24, indicating the pill-forming capacity. The accompanying handheld roller is fashioned with two wooden handles and a matching ridged brass cutting plate. This tool was designed for use in pharmacies to roll pill masses into uniform pipes and cut them into individual units. There are no visible maker’s marks or manufacturer stamps on the components.
